Flax Spinning – June 2022 meeting

Have a go at spinning flax, details below. Plus social crafting – bring along your latest project to show off or to ask advice.

Regular Features:

  • Show and Tell – bring something you have recently finished or are still working on to share your progress.
  • Sales Table – You are invited to bring craft related and other items for sale. Please, no jumble. 20% of sales goes to the Guild.
  • Raffle – we generally have 3 craft related prizes.

TIME/FORMAT:     11.00am – 4.00pm

11.00am – 12:30pm  Flax Spinning – talk, demonstration and have a go / or socialising and crafts if you don’t fancy taking part (bring your own crafts)
12:30 – 1:15pm Informal lunch – bring your own
1.15 – 2.00pm
Show and Tell, Guild notices and discussions
2.00 – 3.30pm Continue flax spinning or social crafting
3.30 – 4.00pm  Raffle & Tidy up

FACILITIES:    Free Parking.  The new one way entrance to the parking is from Banks Road (for those of you with satnav, check as it could send you down Crossways!).   WiFi. Disabled access.  Teas/Coffees,  Cakes and Biscuits.

GUILD MEMBERS :    Free – meetings attendance is included in annual membership fee.

VISITOR COST:       £5.00 per visitor, per meeting

Workshop: Flax spinning taught by Alison Jolley

What to bring:
A spinning wheel
An apron
A broomstick and something to tie it to a chair (or a real distaff if you have one)
A small pot or bowl for water to keep your fingers wet
Approximately 4yds of ribbon
 
However, don’t go out and buy anything especially if you haven’t already got it, as Alison will bring spares of everything along with flax fibre for participants to use.
