Ian gave a very interesting presentation on dyeing with indigo and participants had the opportunity to try dyeing fibres the brought with them.

15 September 2019“From Worsted to Woollen” with Freya Barcock-Jones
An interesting session - Freya set us challenges that moved us form worsted to woollen spinning, explaining the differences, methods and impact on the yarn produced, For many of us we had a first attempt at supported and unsupported long-draw spinning and its fair to say that some of us at least went from disliking it to liking it within the session - well done Freya!

Guild member Helen Munday spoke about her sketchbooks and journey from inspiration to finished item. She brought a number of sketchbooks and finished work with her as well as material so that we could all try out various sketchbook techniques. Our spinning competition was also judged on the day. Around 25 Guild members attended. Reports from the Chair, Secretary and Treasurer were presented. Our new committee was voted in. The AGM Minutes are available on the Members page.
20 January 2019“Fibres, Materials and Stitches” with Alison Ellen
For our meeting on 20 January we were delighted to welcome renowned knitter and author Alison Ellen (alisonellenhandknits.co.uk). Attendance was 34 Members and Guests. Alison talked about how knitted stitches can alter fabric, and how different fibres affect the way stitches work. She included a section on her experiments into knitting with plant material.
20 January 2019Guild meeting: Christmas crafts
This was our Christmas event at which we were able to turn our hand at a number of topical crafts – Fantasy candles, tree decorations, felted icicles and cording. We also had a bring and share lunch which was enjoyed by all.

We had a wonderful November meeting and it was great to see once again so many people - the hall was buzzing with laughter, conversations and tips for spinning and all fibre related loveliness.
18 November 2018Guild Meeting – Speaker Wendy Morris “The Dreaded “S” Word, Some Tricks For Sampling”
Wendy Morris came and spoke about "The Dreaded "S" Word, Some Tricks For Sampling". She will be looked very practically at ways in which weavers can sample effectively, efficiently, and creatively. In addition to her talk she brought two looms for a practical demonstration and playtime to round off the session.
