Please help us cover our library shelving. Looks rather boring doesn’t it? We’d like to make a colourful cover for our shelving at the village hall to protect the books etc.
Members are invited to make panels approximately A4 in size to attach to a fabric cover for the shelving unit. We would like to showcase the techniques of weaving, spinning or dyeing. Beyond that it’s up to your imagination. Perhaps you’d like to incorporate the guild name or logo in some way. The edges need to be finished so that the piece can be stitched onto the backing fabric. Please do add your name and the date to the back of your piece of work for posterity. Thank you.
“It’s Eggciting!” Pardon the dreadful pun. Members were invited to come up with something egg-citing using any of the three core skills of weaving, dyeing or spinning for the March meeting.
To add to the festive excitement of our December meeting, we had a Christmas competition with the theme “The Twelve Days of Christmas”.
Spinning – Jan 2020
Drawing inspiration from a beautiful photo of a sunset we were invited to enter our hand-spun items for the Spring 2020 competition.

Dyeing – Aug- Oct 2019
For this our inspiration was an image of a selection of spices in an Indian market. This attracted entries using both natural and acid dyes. More information and images here!
Weaving – May – July 2019
This competition used an image of Brighton beach as inspiration and attracted a wide variety of imaginative entries – More information and pictures here
Spinning – Jan – April 2019
Our first competition challenge was related to spinning – on a spring theme. Judging will take place on May 21 – later than anticipated due to Easter break. More information here.
