This talk provides a short overview of the history of tapestry weaving, an introduction to the work of contemporary tapestry artists and an insight into a personal approach to tapestry weaving.The talk is enhanced with both illustrations of tapestry woven by notable tapestry weavers and actual tapestries woven by the speaker. The talk lasts about 45 mins to an hour. The hands on component will comprise session using pre-warped tapestry frames and freely weaving with colour blends
- Bring and Brag table – bring something you have recently finished or are still working on to share your progress.
- Sales Table – You are invited to bring craft related and other items for sale. Please, no jumble. 10% of sales goes to the Guild.
- Raffle – we generally have 3 craft related prizes.
TIME/FORMAT: 11.00am – 4.00pm
Projector and screen Additional table. Participants need to bring glasses!
11.00am Socialising and crafts – bring your crafts and chat
12.45pm – 1.45 – Lunch (Bring your own)
13.45pm – 3pm Hands on with pre-warped frames
FACILITIES: Free Parking. The new one way entrance to the parking is from Banks Road (for those of you with satnav, check as it could send you down Crossways!). WiFi. Disabled access. Teas/Coffees, Cakes and Biscuits available for a small charge.
GUILD MEMBERS : Free – meetings attendance is included in annual membership fee.
VISITOR COST: This event is more than a talk so there is a higher entry fee – £15.00 on the door
