Speaker Barbara Shaw – Textile Artist

We had a wonderful November meeting and it was great to see once again so many people – the hall was buzzing with laughter, conversations and tips for spinning and all fibre related loveliness. Barbara Shaw gave the most incredible talk and demonstration on her textile art and I know I came away brimming with ideas and inspiration (and two pictures…). It’s so interesting to get a textile artists view on colour and texture combinations that we can use in our own work. The main thing I took away was to try everything and if you don’t like it don’t do it again but you may very well learn something invaluable – like purple makes a great shadow on a sheep’s neck – who knew?
